We are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience. To do so, we are actively working with consultants to update the website by increasing its accessibility and usability by persons who use assistive technologies
such as automated tools, keyboard-only navigation, and screen readers.
We are working to have the website conform to the relevant standards of the Section 508 Web Accessibility Standards developed by the United States Access Board, as
well as the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1. These standards and guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities. We believe that conformance with these standards and
guidelines will help make the website more user friendly for all people.
Our efforts are ongoing. While we strive to have the website adhere to these guidelines and standards, it is not always possible to do so in all areas of the website.
If, at any time, you have specific questions or concerns about the accessibility of any particular webpage, please contact WebsiteAccess@tenethealth.com so that we may be of assistance.
Sierra Vista is proud of their mission to provide the best possible care and has demonstrating this commitment through the acquisition of new technology including the following:
EBUS is a valuable tool for evaluating lung cancer diagnosis and staging, distant metastasis (or spread) of other known or unknown cancer types, benign or malignant diseases of the lymph nodes, and other diseases such as Tuberculosis, Sarcoidosis, and fungal diseases. Sierra Vista is currently the only facility in San Luis Obispo County and Northern Santa Barbara County to offer the procedure.
Selma Carlson Diagnostic Center - 3D Mammography
New technology at Selma Carlson Diagnostic Center is giving women another tool in the fight against breast cancer. Breast tomosynthesis, or 3D mammography, produces a three-dimensional view of the breast tissue that helps radiologists identify and characterize individual breast structures without the confusion of overlapping tissue. Breast cancer screening with 3D mammography when combined with a conventional 2D mammography has a 40% higher invasive cancer detection rate than conventional 2D mammography alone.
The 3D mammogram screening experience is similar to a traditional one. During the exam, multiple low-dose images of the breast are acquired at different angles. These images are then used to produce a series of one-millimeter thick slices that can be viewed as a 3D reconstruction of the breast. 3D mammography is appropriate for most breast cancer screenings and is especially valuable for women receiving a baseline screening, those who have dense breast tissue and/or women with a personal history of breast cancer.
(EUS) combines endoscopy and ultrasound in order to obtain images and information about the digestive tract and the surrounding tissue and organs. In EUS a small ultrasound transducer is installed on the tip of the endoscope. By inserting the endoscope into the upper or the lower digestive tract one can obtain high quality ultrasound images of the organs inside the body. Sierra Vista is currently the only facility to offer this state of the art diagnostic exam in San Luis Obispo County.
