Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons Accredited FacilityCommission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons has granted the Cancer Program at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center accreditation with commendation every year since 2012. This approval is given only to those facilities that have voluntarily committed to providing the highest level of quality cancer care undergoing a rigorous evaluation process and review of performance. In order to receive accreditation, Sierra Vista has shown that its patients have access to the full scope of services required to diagnose, treat, rehabilitate and support patients with cancer and their families.

Receiving care at a Commission on Cancer accredited facility ensures that a patient has access to comprehensive care including a range of state-of-the-art services and equipment, a multispecialty team approach to coordinate the best treatment options, information about ongoing clinical trials and new treatment options, access to cancer-related information, education and support, a cancer registry that collects data on type and stage of cancers and treatment results, and offers lifelong patient follow-up and quality of care close to home. There are currently only 1,500 Commission on Cancer approved oncology programs in the United States, representing approximately 30% of hospitals across the country. The Commission on Cancer is a consortium of professional groups dedicated to improving survival rates and quality of life for cancer patients by setting standards and focusing on prevention, research, education and the monitoring of comprehensive quality care.
