Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center is proud to honor Teresita Aquino, RN, as its DAISY Award winner for February.

Teresita was nominated by a co-worker who describes her as soft spoken, calm and someone who always tends to her patients’ many different needs with a smile. Her patients have said she makes them feel comfortable because of how she explains complicated medical terminology to them in a way they can understand. Teresita always provides her patients with the care they deserve, despite all circumstances. Patients, family members and co-workers have only positive things to say about Teresita and we are proud to have her on our team.

“Teresita exemplifies the nursing profession. She not only has a wealth of knowledge, but approaches her patients with kindness and humility,” said Aaron Thorne, RN, director of nursing for critical care and step down units. “We are so lucky to have her represent the Sierra Vista team.”

The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses is a special program that recognizes the incredible work nurses display on a daily basis, and recognizes those who go above and beyond for their patients and families. It was created by the DAISY foundation, which was founded in memory of J. Patrick Barnes by his parents after they experienced firsthand the compassion and care of their son’s nurses.
