Sierra Vista Earns Four Stars for Patient Satisfaction
Nov 9, 2015Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center earned a Four-Star rating in the recently released Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and System (HCAHPS) Survey, the highest score among San Luis Obispo County-area hospitals.
HCAHPS is the first national, standardized, publicly reported survey of patients’ perspectives of hospital care. It is a 32-item survey instrument and data collection methodology for measuring patients’ perceptions of their hospital experience.
“We are proud to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care every day, and we are pleased to see this commitment reflected in our Four-Star HCAHPS Star Rating,” said Joe DeSchryver, Sierra Vista’s Chief Executive Officer. “This rating is a testament to our nearly 800 employees and our culture of service and quality of care that has been developed over the years. This rating is validation of the physicians, nurses, techs, support staff, and volunteers who work tirelessly to provide exceptional care and service to the San Luis Obispo community.
Hospitals throughout the nation were ranked 1-5, with five-stars being the highest rating. Less than 20 percent of the 297 California hospitals rated earned a five-star or four-star rating with only three percent being rated 5-Star and 16% 4-Star. The state’s average ranking was 2.7.
